Backpacking Trips

Spend a weekend or a week exploring our semi-desert mountain ranch. With over 30 kilometers of hiking trails and more than 1800 hectares to investigate, bring your tent and sleeping bag or inquire about our catered meal and cabin options.

Single or multi-day Horseback Riding Trips (Cabalgatas)

Horseback trail rides, or cabalgatas in Mexico, are our specialty! Our expert knowledge of horses and livestock will ensure that your visit is safe and comfortable. We can accommodate large or small groups for day rides, half-day rides, camping, and visits to natural and historical sites. Native White-tailed Deer Hunts

Managed deer hunting season from December - February annually. Reserve your weekend adventure early as prices start at only $10,000 pesos including lodging (and a mere $2000 pesos if you leave empty-handed)!

Birdwatching & Stargazing

Over half of the vertebrate species that we have identified to date in our wildlife survey have been birds, and migration season is fast approaching (late September - March). In addition, we have often have thousands of Monarch butterflies migrating though our alpine, semi-desert pine and oak forests from late October until December each year. For the amateur astronomer, the UMA Los del Carrizal ranch boasts incredible views of the night sky with a nearly 180 degree field of view, and no light pollution from nearby cities or pueblos, you are sure to sight your favorite constellation. Cave Exploration & Cayoning

If caving is your adventure, we have many to explore across 1800 hectares of mountain canyons. Explore an old tin mine complete with a native Mexican bat colony, or investigate caves with historical, indigenous rock paintings and artwork. Investigate even more remote caves and caverns along the extensive UMA Los del Carrizal trail network.
